Trump: The Peace Council will go beyond Gaza for a broader global role

US President Donald Trump announced that the newly established Peace Council will not only focus on Gaza but will also aim to foster peace globally.

In a recent statement, US President Donald Trump declared that the Peace Council, which was announced at the beginning of the year, will extend its efforts beyond Gaza to facilitate peace worldwide. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One while returning to Washington, he emphasized that the council aims to attract significant financial contributions from world leaders involved in this initiative.

Trump noted that the Peace Council is working in collaboration with the United Nations, despite his criticism of the body's effectiveness, which he argues has not lived up to its potential. He insisted that some of the world's greatest leaders have joined this council, which he believes has the opportunity to become the most important council ever created, with aspirations to achieve success in Gaza and promote broader peace efforts in the Middle East.

The Peace Council was established following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2803 in November 2025, which outlined the council's role in supervising arrangements for Gaza after hostilities cease. However, the creation of the council has faced skepticism from several Western nations that have refrained from joining, raising questions about its legitimacy and effectiveness in addressing global peace challenges.
