For the first time, Finnish municipalities ranked according to social justice - see the map of winners and losers

Pedersöre, a municipality in Finland, has been recognized as the most socially just municipality in the country according to a new national survey that covers all municipalities.

A new survey conducted across all 292 municipalities in mainland Finland has ranked Pedersöre as the most socially just municipality in the country. With a population of just over 11,000, Pedersöre has gained positive attention for its low unemployment rate, good health among residents, and overall safety within the community. These factors have contributed to its top ranking in social justice, which encompasses access to health, well-being, and recreational services for all residents.

The survey sheds light on how social justice is perceived in Finnish municipalities, emphasizing the importance of equal opportunities for health and well-being services. Eero Laesterä, the director from Finnish Consulting Group, explains that social justice reflects a certain level of happiness in a community and the capability for residents to access critical services. Although Pedersöre excelled in most areas, there were some concerns regarding housing shortages that slightly impacted its overall score.

As communities like Pedersöre are recognized for their social justice achievements, this initiative encourages other municipalities to strive for improvements in equality and quality of life. The mapping of winners and losers highlights disparities across Finland, which could serve as a basis for policy discussions and targeted interventions aimed at enhancing social conditions nationwide.
