Man accused of sexually harassing PRI deputy Tania Larios is linked to trial

Erick 'N' has been formally charged for sexually harassing PRI deputy Tania Larios near the offices of the Congress of Mexico City.

A control judge has officially charged Erick 'N', a man accused by Tania Larios, a deputy of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), of sexually harassing her near the alternate offices of the Congress of Mexico City. The incident, which reportedly occurred in the vicinity of the Congress, led to Larios publicly accusing the suspect, prompting an investigation by the authorities.

Journalist Carlos Jiménez reported that Erick 'N' was apprehended in the Centro neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc after Deputy Larios identified him as her harasser. Following his arrest, the case was processed under a gender perspective protocol, according to the judiciary of Mexico City. This approach aims to provide fair treatment and justice for victims of gender-based violence, reflecting a growing recognition of the need for systemic changes in how such cases are handled by the legal system.

Tania Larios expressed her hope that the legal actions taken against her alleged assailant would contribute to making the streets safer. During a hearing on February 16, the Mexico City Attorney General's Office presented evidence and forensic analyses gathered from her harassment report. Larios stated, "Today, the streets are a little safer," signaling a small victory amidst ongoing struggles against sexual violence and harassment in the country.
