The urban artist Atardecer Dwsk brings graffiti language to the wardrobe of 'The Black Swan'

Atardecer Dwsk is incorporating his graffiti art into the costume design for the contemporary ballet 'The Black Swan', running from February 12 to March 8, 2026, at Chapultepec Castle, Mexico.

The contemporary ballet 'The Black Swan' is set to return to Chapultepec Castle with a new season directed and choreographed by Rodrigo González. This production, presented by La Infinita Compañía, will feature the work of urban artist Atardecer Dwsk as the guest costume designer. His designs incorporate contemporary dance, urban art, and fashion through manually intervened recycled garments, showcasing a bold and innovative approach to blending art forms.

Atardecer Dwsk shared that one of the project's greatest challenges was transferring his distinctive visual language, traditionally expressed on urban walls, to the dynamic medium of the human body in motion. He remarked on the complexities of visualizing the body in three dimensions, noting that the process shares similarities with mural painting, where the artist becomes a part of the artwork itself. This transformation from static to kinetic expression poses unique considerations for a costume designer in a live performance setting.

The significance of this project extends beyond mere aesthetics, as it reflects a deep connection between street art and performance art. Atardecer Dwsk expressed his fascination with how the strokes he initially created on the streets have evolved into a form that can be experienced in the context of dance. This collaboration not only highlights his artistic journey but also emphasizes the potential of urban art to enrich other art forms, pushing boundaries and redefining traditional roles in the creative industry.
