Winnipeg house fire that killed man was deliberately set, police claim
Police in Winnipeg have charged a man following the investigation of a house fire that resulted in a man's death, deemed to be deliberately set.
A tragic house fire in Winnipeg that took place on February 12, resulting in the death of 68-year-old Gregory George Thomas, has led police to announce that the blaze was intentionally started. Winnipeg police have charged a 40-year-old man, Michael Patrick Gordon, with two counts of manslaughter and arson with disregard for human life. The police were called shortly after 6 p.m. as the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service was battling the flames that engulfed the home.
During the incident, multiple residents were evacuated, and two individuals, including the victim, were taken to the hospital due to injuries sustained from the fire. Unfortunately, one of these individuals later succumbed to their injuries, highlighting the severe consequences of the incident. A firefighter was also injured while combating the blaze but is reported to be in stable condition.
