Barcelona renews its contract with Formula 1 and will host Grand Prix until 2032

Barcelona will continue to host Formula 1 races at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya until 2032, alternating Grand Prix events with Belgium's Spa-Francorchamps.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya has secured a place in the Formula 1 calendar until 2032, with confirmed Grand Prix events scheduled for 2028, 2030, and 2032. This agreement was reached after months of negotiations between the Circuit and Formula One Management (FOM), allowing the Circuit to renew a partnership that was set to expire in 2026.

Starting from 2026, the race will officially be named the Gran Premio de F1 de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the first event taking place on June 12-14. This marks a shift in scheduling as the Barcelona Grand Prix will no longer be uninterrupted from 2027 onwards, ending a streak that began when the circuit opened in 1991, which saw 36 consecutive editions of the Grand Prix.

Additionally, this year, Spain is set to host two Formula 1 races: one in Montmeló (Barcelona) and another in Madrid. Madrid will carry the Gran Premio de España title from 2026 to 2035, with the speculation that it will enhance Spain's visibility and competitiveness in the world of Formula 1 racing, while also solidifying Barcelona's continued commitment to hosting these prestigious events.
