Shameless cheating revealed in Thailand - two face imprisonment
A Thai e-sports player and her boyfriend have been arrested for cheating in a competition, potentially facing two years in prison.
A 29-year-old Thai e-sports player, Warasin 'Tokyogurl' Naraphat, and her 23-year-old boyfriend, Cheerion, have been arrested for cheating in a Southeast Asian competition. The couple is accused of using a banned application that allowed Cheerion to play on Naraphat's behalf while she was physically present in the game. Their actions have drawn significant attention, leading to Thailand withdrawing its national team from the competition and losing a medal position.
The cheating incident came to light in December when Naraphat was caught during the Arena of Valor tournament where she was supposed to represent Thailand. Following their arrest, reports indicate that the couple could face up to two years in prison for their actions, highlighting the serious repercussions of cheating in competitive gaming. Initially, Naraphat denied the allegations but later admitted her wrongdoing and issued an apology.
In addition to the potential legal consequences, Naraphat has received a lifetime ban from competitive gaming and has been dismissed from her club team due to her involvement in the scandal. This incident underscores the growing scrutiny on esports integrity and the severe consequences players face if caught cheating, reflecting a broader move towards maintaining fairness and credibility in the rapidly evolving esports industry.
