Truck driver sentenced - ended up in the ditch with a blood alcohol level of 3.23
A truck driver has been sentenced to treatment and a fine after driving with an extremely high blood alcohol level, which resulted in an accident.
A woman in Norway has been sentenced for driving a truck with a blood alcohol concentration of 3.23, classified by the court as extremely high. Her driving ended in an accident where she veered off the E39 highway in Bokn, Rogaland, after having driven from Bergen. During the incident, it was noted that she continued to drink even after the crash, amplifying the seriousness of her actions.
The police apprehended the woman after the accident in February of last year. A blood test taken two hours post-accident revealed the alarming level of 3.23, with an expert report estimating that her blood alcohol level was likely between 1.89 and 2.67 during her drive. The SΓΈr-Rogaland District Court stated that this was an exceptionally high blood alcohol content, emphasizing the risks posed by her reckless behavior on the road, especially given she was operating a large vehicle.
As a result of her actions, the woman has been fined 65,000 Norwegian krone and sentenced to 45 days in jail, which is suspended contingent upon her compliance with a program for individuals facing charges related to impaired driving. Notably, she will lose her driver's license, highlighting the legal repercussions of driving under the influence and reinforcing the importance of road safety laws in Norway.
