The Finnish ice hockey team, known as Leijonat, secured a direct spot in the quarterfinals of their tournament by finishing as the top second-place team. Following this achievement, the team was given a full day off in Milan. Some of the players decided to immerse themselves in the local sports scene by attending a speed skating event. The highlight of the competition was Dutch speed skating sensation Jutta Leerdam, who has been a fan favorite due to her remarkable performances.
Miro Heiskanen, a player on the Leijonat team, expressed his excitement after attending his first live speed skating event, sharing that it was a 'really cool thing' to experience. Apart from attending the races, the players spent time enjoying the local Milanese cuisine and soaking in the atmosphere of the city. At the event, Jutta Leerdam won the gold medal in the 1000 meters with a record-breaking performance and later secured a silver in the 500 meters.
