Secret patrols in Madrid have issued 111 fines for improper waste disposal in the first month of a new initiative.
In a bid to maintain cleanliness and curb improper waste disposal, Madrid's Municipal Police and Cleaning Services have implemented a new initiative that has already resulted in 111 fines within its first month of operations. The initiative, launched on January 12, is a part of Mayor José Luis Martínez-Almeida's cleaning reinforcement plan announced in the previous October. The fines, which can reach up to 1,100 euros, target commercial establishments more frequently than individuals, with 75% of the fines issued to businesses and 25% to private citizens.
