In a significant crackdown on non-compliance within the private healthcare sector, the Uttar Pradesh government has taken stringent actions against numerous hospitals. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced in the assembly that licenses for 178 hospitals have been revoked due to violations of regulations and standards. Following appeals and hearings, 59 of these licenses were later restored. The government received approximately 500 complaints, leading to these actions as they investigated the hospitals operating without adhering to the prescribed norms.
The Deputy Chief Minister also disclosed that FIRs have been filed against 281 hospitals that were found operating contrary to the established regulations. This indicates a focused effort by the state to regulate private medical institutions and enhance accountability within the healthcare infrastructure. Additionally, 533 hospitals have been sealed as a further step to enforce compliance and protect public health.
In conjunction with these actions, 91 diagnostic centers have also been sealed, and notices have been issued to 1,542 hospitals mandating improvements in their operations to meet required standards.
