Manhunt for M6 crash lorry driver who fled scene as two boys rushed to hospital

A lorry driver who fled the scene of a serious motorway crash in Lancashire is being sought by police after two boys were injured.

Two boys have suffered serious injuries in a multi-vehicle crash on the M6 motorway in Lancashire. The incident occurred late Sunday night when a green Nissan Micra collided with the central reservation barrier before being struck by a silver Toyota Celica, which was then hit by a heavy goods vehicle (HGV). The driver of the HGV reportedly fled the scene following the crash, prompting a manhunt by Lancashire Police to locate him and hold him accountable for the injuries caused.

Emergency services, including police, paramedics, and fire crews, responded swiftly to help the victims, who were a 17-year-old driver of the Micra and a 16-year-old passenger. Both were taken to the hospital where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. The situation has raised concerns regarding road safety, particularly on major motorways, and the importance of drivers adhering to their responsibilities in the event of an accident.

While the northbound carriageway of the motorway was closed for several hours to manage the aftermath of the crash, it reopened just before 11 am on Monday. The investigation continues as police make efforts to track down the lorry driver, emphasizing the need for accountability and public safety in busy traffic conditions. The incident has spurred conversations about the implications of fleeing from the scene of a crash and the legal consequences that drivers may face.
