Liisi Koikson: I would like to go back inward in music
Singer Liisi Koikson expresses a desire to return to a darker, more introspective style in her music following her collaboration with Marti Tärni and Sander Möldri.
Estonian singer-songwriter Liisi Koikson recently discussed her artistic journey and future direction on the cultural program "OP." In collaboration with fellow musicians Marti Tärni and Sander Möldri, her most recent album showcased a brighter tone. However, Koikson has expressed a desire to delve back into a more somber and introspective musical style in future projects.
The trio's collaboration began in 2017 during Estonia's presidency of the European Union, marking an initiative to highlight Estonian music internationally through various events organized by the Estonian embassies abroad. Koikson explained that instead of solely focusing on her individual work, they created a program that presented a modern take on Estonian music, allowing her to connect with new audiences outside her home country. Their project included not only covers of favored songs but also an original track titled "All õhtutaeva," which served as the title for their album released in August of last year.
Additionally, the artists plan to release new versions of popular songs such as "Moonaliisa" and "Suve hääl" on vinyl, citing multiple reasons for revisiting these pieces. Koikson looks forward to the creative process ahead as she seeks to explore deeper emotions in her music, indicating an evolution in her artistic direction that may resonate with a broader audience.
