The prosecutor seeks the conviction of Father Antonios for bodily harm to guests

A prosecutor has requested the conviction of Father Antonios, founder of the Ark of the World, and four others for incidents of bodily harm against guests in facilities located in Volos, Athens, and Kalamata.

The prosecutor at the Three-Member Misdemeanor Appeals Court has sought the conviction of Father Antonios, the founder of the Ark of the World organization, and four co-defendants for bodily harm incidents involving guests in their facilities in Volos, Athens, and Kalamata. The prosecutor emphasized that Father Antonios was the central figure and leader within the organization, asserting that nothing occurred without his knowledge, painting a picture of him as the person responsible for the wellbeing of those in their care.

In her arguments, the prosecutor also called for the conviction of former employees of the organization for their abusive behavior towards the guests, highlighting that all those accused were responsible for the protection of individuals entrusted to the care of the Ark of the World. This adds a communal dimension to the guilt shared among the various defendants, pointing to systemic issues within the organization that facilitated the alleged abuses.

Previously, Father Antonios was sentenced to a prison term of 51 months (4 years and 3 months), while four of his associates received prison sentences ranging from 17 to 40 months. Importantly, three of those convicted were granted a suspended sentence, reflecting the legal leniency that may exist for such cases in the Greek judicial system. This ongoing judicial process raises significant questions about accountability and the treatment of vulnerable individuals in care.
