Yle: Songs in the Kaija Koo Movie Were Modified with Artificial Intelligence

Singer Kaija Koo revealed that the songs in her biographical film were altered using artificial intelligence.

In an interview with Yle, singer Kaija Koo discussed the use of artificial intelligence in her biographical film. She mentioned that the voice of actress Oona Airola, who plays Kaija Koo in the film, had been modified in some songs to include more of Kaija's own voice for sound purposes. However, Kaija emphasized that the intent was not to make Airola sound identical to her; rather, the focus was on the performance and interpretation by the actress.

Kaija Koo praised Airola's portrayal, stating that it was the powerful interpretation that stood out most in the film. She commended Airola's performance during a press screening, expressing that the makeup and transformation were exceptional and that Airola had fully captured the essence of Kaija Koo. Kaija asserted that she couldn't imagine anyone else playing the role as competently as Airola did.

Oona Airola had previously described the process of creating the musical scenes in the film in an interview with Helsingin Sanomat. This insight into the production raises interesting questions about the use of artificial intelligence in creative fields and the balance between technology and authentic artistic expression in filmmaking.
