Nigeria has announced substantial commitments to bolster the security of the Gulf of Guinea by hosting the Combined Maritime Task Force's headquarters. Vice President Kashim Shettima highlighted during the 39th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union that Nigeria will furnish necessary infrastructure including office buildings, ships, and helicopters to enhance the task force's operational capabilities.
