Renfe starts service in Catalonia at half capacity: speed limits at 200 points
Renfe has resumed limited service in Catalonia, applying speed restrictions at 200 points while maintenance work is underway.
Renfe has recommenced operations in Catalonia with significant speed restrictions in place, impacting nearly 200 locations as maintenance work by Adif continues to ensure train safety and reliability. Although these limitations are currently affecting the performance of several Rodalies lines, the Spanish government and the Generalitat anticipate full service restoration by April, with expectations for the removal of most restrictions by late February or early March. José Antonio Santano, the Secretary of State for Transport, has provided assurances regarding the progressive easing of the speed limits as improvements are made. The ongoing maintenance and certification work is crucial not only for the timely resumption of services but also for the overall safety of train operations across the region.
