In the middle of the warm spell, earnings from betting on the peso are already 16% in dollars

Earnings from investing in the peso have reached 16% in dollars as the currency strengthens, benefiting investors amid favorable interest rates.

Since the beginning of the year, the dollar has fallen by 4%, which has highlighted a clear winner in the financial market: investors who bet on peso-denominated interest rates. The revival of carry trade strategies has aided Argentina's Central Bank in making progress toward its goals for dollar reserves, accumulating $2.09 billion of the $10 billion it aimed to collect in 2026's first eight weeks. On Friday, the retail dollar closed at $1,420, while the wholesale dollar even dipped below $1,400. Analysts from GMA Capital noted that the nominal exchange rate is no longer the focal point of discussion, as the official dollar has decreased by 3% since the October elections.
