A Panel Discussion on Christian Witness and Public Engagement of Believers Held in Split

A panel discussion on Christian witness and public engagement of believers took place in Split, Croatia, organized in conjunction with the launch of a new book by Professor Josip Mužić.

On February 12, a panel discussion focusing on Christian witness and the public engagement of believers was held at the Archbishop's seminary in Split, Croatia. The event was organized by Glas Koncila to mark the release of Professor Josip Mužić's new book titled 'Uncompromising Politics of Catholics: Principles That Cannot Be Negotiated.' Various speakers participated in the program, including notable figures from Catholic organizations and academia, highlighting the importance of faith in public affairs.

Branimir Stanić, the editor-in-chief of Glas Koncila, emphasized the current crossroads of Croatian society. He pointed out that the society is divided between a fidelity to its Christian roots and the rising influence of secular trends. Stanić elaborated on the notion of 'two Croatias': one that is silently and diligently engaged in building society based on faith, and another that encounters challenges due to these secular forces attempting to reshape cultural values.

The discussions during the panel focused on the responsibilities of Catholic media and believers in this secular landscape. The speakers called for an intentional commitment to upholding Christian principles in public life, advocating for a constructive dialogue between faith and modernity, which is imperative for the thriving of Croatian society at large.
