A 31-year-old garbage collector was shot dead in a bar located in the Morro das Pedras neighborhood of Belo Horizonte during the early hours of Sunday, October 15. Witnesses report that he was struck by 14 gunfire rounds while a 49-year-old female employee of the establishment was also injured in the leg due to the shooting. The garbage collector was accompanied by his girlfriend, who was unharmed, and both victims were taken to Hospital João XXIII, where the garbage collector succumbed to his injuries.

According to the Military Police (PM), the assailant arrived on foot at the bar, executed the shooting, and then fled the scene. The perpetrator has not yet been apprehended, and the motive behind the shooting remains unclear. It was noted in the police report that the garbage collector had previous arrests for illegal possession of a firearm, which may or may not relate to the incident.

The Police Civil has dispatched forensic teams to the site of the crime and has initiated an investigation into the shooting. The health status of the injured woman has not been publicly disclosed, leaving concerns for her recovery amid the ongoing inquiry into this violent act in the community.
