The Special Group of Samba Schools in Manaus wrapped up the Carnival in the Forest 2026 with vibrant parades at the Sambódromo, taking place from the evening of Saturday, February 14, to the morning of Sunday, February 15. The Grêmio Recreativo Presidente Vargas kicked off the festivities with a fascinating theme celebrating the strength of women in the Amazon, featuring standout performances, including that of Isabelle Nogueira as a powerful warrior who captivated the audience.
Jamilly Januska, celebrating her debut as the battery princess, expressed her joy in taking on this esteemed role and reflected on the pride she felt leading the President Vargas battery for the first time. Her excitement illustrates the emotional connection many participants have with the tradition of carnival, emphasizing community spirit and the importance of the cultural festivities in the region.
Another highlight was the Andanças de Ciganos, which celebrated its 50 years of history themed "Gypsies tell their wanderings - 50 years of history," showcasing their rich traditions and spirituality in homage to Sara Kali. This celebration not only marked an anniversary but also emphasized the importance of cultural storytelling and heritage in preserving the identity of the diverse communities involved in the celebrations.
