Kiruba revives 'Cumbia del Olvido' and bids farewell to the stage with new concerts alongside Kudai
Kiruba is celebrating its final performances by releasing a revamped version of 'Cumbia del Olvido,' originally from 2004, while also collaborating with the band Kudai.
Kiruba, a prominent Ecuadorian pop group, is initiating their farewell performances with the launch of an updated version of 'Cumbia del Olvido,' which was part of their second album 'Baila la Luna' released in 2004. The new single, available on digital platforms from February 14, 2023, highlights the group’s evolution over the years, attempting to connect with both nostalgic fans and newer audiences by bringing a fresh approach to their classic sound.
The revival of 'Cumbia del Olvido' reflects Kiruba's enduring impact on Ecuador’s music scene, especially as they were among the leading female pop groups of the early 2000s. This reimagined track aims to resonate with the current musical landscape, blending various styles to create a more solid and radio-friendly version. The song underwent a two-year production process, with vocal recordings taking place in both Ecuador and Mexico, showcasing the group’s commitment to quality and innovation as they prepare for their final concerts.
Kiruba's collaboration with Kudai, another significant act in Latin pop, adds excitement to these last performances. The production team behind this version includes Diego Ramírez—a well-known producer for Kudai—and Lamine Fellah, the author of the original track, who also lends his voice to the new rendition. As Kiruba bids farewell, they leave behind a legacy that has shaped a generation of Ecuadorian music lovers, and this revival serves not just as a nostalgic reminder but also as a celebration of their artistic journey.
