In Lubná in Svitavy, a cultural house with a gym burned down. Damage amounts to five million
A fire occurred in a cultural house with a gym in Lubná, leading to significant damage estimated at five million crowns and the building's closure for an indefinite period.
A fire was reported on Saturday, February 14, at 7 AM in Lubná, Svitavy, and was extinguished shortly after, although firefighters continued to dismantle affected areas throughout the day due to hidden fire hotspots. It was confirmed that the fire originated in the main hall, particularly near the stage, and foreign negligence was ruled out. Investigations point towards a malfunction of an electrical appliance as a potential cause, with further inquiries still underway. The cultural house experienced severe damage, particularly to its ceiling and roof structures, which house not only the hall but also a gallery and a fitness center. The mayor of the municipality, Josef Chadima, indicated that the gym, adjoining hallways, gallery, vestibule, and fitness center were all significantly impacted by the fire. Although the exact cost of the damage has yet to be calculated, it is expected to be in the millions of crowns range, prompting immediate closure of the entire facility, named Skalky, until further notice.
