The designated head of the Mossad, Roman Gofman, testified at Lahav 433 offices regarding the 'Night Meeting' case

Roman Gofman, the designated head of the Mossad, testified in connection with the 'Night Meeting' investigation, which involved allegations of classified documents leaking from the military to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office.

Roman Gofman, who is set to lead the Mossad, provided testimony today at the Lahav 433 offices as part of the investigation into the 'Night Meeting' case. This case revolves around allegations that Tzahi Barverman, Netanyahu's Chief of Staff, met with Eli Feldstein, a former spokesperson for the Prime Minister, to inform him about an investigation launched by the military concerning the leaking of classified documents from the IDF to Netanyahu's office. As a result of the allegations, Barverman has been restricted from contact with Gofman under the conditions imposed on him during the investigation.

Tomorrow, a hearing will take place in the Lod District Court regarding the police's appeal against the decision made by the president of the Rishon Lezion Magistrate Court, Judge Menachem Mizrahi, who declined to extend the exit ban imposed on Barverman as well as his removal from the Prime Minister's office. The police's appeal argues that recent developments in the investigation have significantly reinforced the suspicions against Barverman and necessitated additional investigative actions while he remains in the country and under the requested restrictions. Moreover, the police have indicated that the allegations against Barverman have intensified.

Last week, the State Service Commission summoned Barverman for a hearing before suspension due to the 'Night Meeting' case. The prosecution also provided the Commission with an opinion recommending that Barverman be suspended for six months. This situation underscores the complexities surrounding issues of national security and political accountability, especially considering the high-profile nature of those involved, which can pose challenges for government integrity and public trust.
