The scandal continues! Teemu Pasanen is fed up: "Ask the Ski Federation"
Teemu Pasanen, Finland's cross-country skiing team head coach, expressed confusion and frustration over the Finnish Ski Federation's protest to the International Ski Federation regarding the results of a recent sprint competition.
Teemu Pasanen, the head coach of Finland's cross-country skiing team, has voiced his frustration concerning the protest filed by the Finnish Ski Federation and the Olympic Committee over the results of a sprint competition held on Tuesday. The protest, which was submitted to the International Ski Federation (FIS) on Saturday, aimed to rectify the competition results, claiming that no participant had gained an advantage through rule violations. However, FIS promptly rejected the protest on the same day it was filed.
In response to questioning on Sunday about the dismissal of the protest, Pasanen directed inquiries back to the Ski Federation and the Olympic Committee, indicating that the skiing team, including Lauri Vuorinen, was not in favor of pursuing the protest in the first place. He emphasized that the results of the competition were clear-cut and did not warrant such an action, suggesting a disconnect between the coaching staff's perspectives and the administrative decisions made by the governing bodies.
Moreover, Pasanen revealed that he was unaware of the intentions of the Ski Federation or the Olympic Committee to file a protest to FIS, describing the action as a surprise. While he acknowledged that there was a consensus on addressing issues with the ski federation concerning operational changes, the filing of the protest seemed to come out of nowhere. This incident raises questions about internal communication within Finnish ski sports governance and the implications it may have on future competitions and athlete morale.
