Fresh snow warning issued for parts of England as flooding expected in more than 70 areas
England faces severe weather with a fresh snow warning and flooding alerts affecting more than 70 areas.
Parts of England are bracing for severe weather conditions as a fresh snow warning has been issued alongside expectations of flooding in over 70 areas. Following a brief period of sunshine, rain is set to return, with predictions that showers could potentially turn to sleet and snow in eastern England during a designated period on Sunday.
The Environment Agency has reported 74 flood warnings and 162 flood alerts currently in effect, urging residents to stay alert. These warnings come after reports indicate that about 330 homes and businesses have already experienced flooding, while flood defences have successfully protected around 24,000 properties from flooding. The yellow snow warning is active for a portion of Sunday, highlighting the potential for disruption in travel and daily life due to the incoming snow.
Jonathan Day, the flood duty manager at the Environment Agency, emphasized the importance of public vigilance as the region continues to navigate the risks presented by the intense weather. The combination of snow and flooding could create hazardous conditions, prompting authorities to advise careful movement and adherence to safety guidelines to mitigate any risks associated with these adverse weather events.
