Recent satellite images have drawn attention to a new Chinese nuclear attack submarine spotted at the Bohai Shipbuilding yard in Huludao. Captured on February 9 and 11, these images reveal a unit under assembly in a flooded dock, which was later moved to a completion pier for finishing touches. Initially, low-resolution photographs had suggested the launch of another submarine from the Type 09IIIB class, an ongoing production since 2022. However, a detailed examination of the captured images has indicated significant differences that align with a completely novel design, tentatively identified as the Type 09V, or Type 095.

According to analysis reported by Naval News, which has evaluated high-definition satellite imagery including SAR radar shots, this new submarine carries novel features that enhance China's nuclear underwater fleet. Its overall length is speculated to be between 110 and 115 meters, positioning it as a formidable addition to China's military capabilities.
