India won the first T20 match against Australia by 21 runs under the DLS method due to rain interruptions.

On February 15, the Indian women's cricket team played the first match of a three-match T20 series against Australia at the Sydney Cricket Ground. They achieved victory by 21 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method after rain disrupted play. India was set a target of 134 runs but the match was halted due to rain after they scored 50 runs for the loss of one wicket in just 5.1 overs, resulting in them being declared winners.

In the initial phase of the innings, Indian opener Shafali Verma showcased an aggressive approach, scoring 21 runs off 11 balls, including two sixes and a four. Another opener, Smriti Mandhana, contributed 16 runs off 17 balls, assisted by two boundaries. Jemimah Rodrigues ended her innings with 9 runs off just 3 balls, hitting two fours. On the bowling front, Arundhati Reddy’s performance was remarkable as the Australian team struggled to score runs and was restricted to 133 runs in 18 overs after losing the toss.

The Australian team, while batting first, saw Georgia Wareham top-scoring with 30 runs off 19 balls. This series is crucial for both teams as it prepares them for upcoming international competitions. The second match is set to take place on February 19 in Canberra, where India will aim to maintain their winning momentum against a formidable Australian side.
