Bags of wheat fell from a truck on the flyover, several cars were crushed

On Saturday in Ludhiana, Punjab, a serious accident was averted when bags of wheat from an overloaded truck fell from the under-construction elevated flyover at Bharat Nagar Chowk. The incident occurred amidst heavy traffic and crowds in the area, causing a temporary panic among the onlookers. Fortunately, there were no fatalities reported, but two drivers sustained serious injuries in the mishap.
Eyewitnesses and local shopkeepers recounted that as the truck carrying the wheat bags crossed the flyover, it suddenly lost balance, causing approximately 50 kg bags to tumble onto the road below. The impact from such a height was substantial, leading to severe damage to two cars that were passing underneath the flyover. The affected vehicles included a Maruti Swift and a Honda City, both of which suffered significant structural damage, including crushed roofs.
Additionally, a motorcycle parked outside a roadside shop was also damaged after being hit by the falling bags. The immediate response from those nearby helped to assist the injured, showcasing community solidarity in the face of such unexpected events.
