Retirees in the Spotlight: Alert for a Series of Armed Robberies with Prior Intelligence and Extreme Violence
There has been a significant increase in violent robberies targeting retirees in Buenos Aires, with criminals conducting thorough research on their victims before attacking.
In recent weeks, retirees in Buenos Aires have become targets of a wave of violent robberies. Criminals, often young individuals, take advantage of the vulnerability of their elderly victims, typically attacking them in the early morning hours while they are asleep. These incidents have been reported across various regions, both in the northern and southern parts of Gran Buenos Aires as well as in the city of Buenos Aires itself.
According to a recent survey by Clarín, there have been six violent robbery incidents reported in just the last 40 days, indicating a troubling trend that shows no signs of slowing down. The common thread among these attacks is that they are executed by two or more assailants who engage in prior reconnaissance of the victim's residence. They plan their attacks methodically, often breaking in by climbing over fences, walls, or forcing locks to gain access to homes. Once inside, they have the upper hand, as they can take their time with the victims, who are usually caught off-guard and in a vulnerable state.
The methods employed by these criminals illustrate a disturbing willingness to use extreme violence, as offenders not only rob but also threaten, physically assault, and psychologically torture their victims during the ordeal. This alarming situation raises significant concerns about the safety of retirees, who should be able to live peacefully, particularly in their own homes. The severity of these crimes highlights the urgent need for increased security measures and greater protection for the elderly, who are disproportionately affected by such violence.
