The Frost Wave is Easing – This is the Weather Ahead
The most extreme frosts in Finland are abating, with temperatures expected to hover around minus 10 degrees across the country next week.
The severe frosty conditions in Finland are predicted to lessen as temperatures begin to stabilize around the minus ten-degree mark throughout the country. Meteorologist Eveliina Tuovinen from the Finnish Meteorological Institute notes that various weather patterns, particularly cloud coverage, will influence temperature fluctuations. Clear skies during the night can lead to harsher frosts, while sunny days tend to moderate the cold, particularly when compared to January's temperatures.
On Sunday, the forecast divides Finland's weather into three distinct regions, with Lapland expected to experience daytime temperatures between minus 15 and 20 degrees Celsius. In the eastern regions and south of Lapland, temperatures will range from minus 10 to 15 degrees Celsius, affecting areas such as Kotka northward to Mikkeli and Joensuu. Similar readings are also anticipated in parts of Oulu, Kajaani, and Kuusamo, indicating a widespread continuation of cold weather across the northern and eastern parts of Finland.
As the week progresses, it appears that the weather will remain largely consistent, with daytime sunshine beginning to warm the temperatures slightly compared to earlier this month. This shift may offer some respite from the extreme cold, making outdoor activities more feasible leading into the later part of the winter season.
