According to a report submitted by the Korea Highway Corporation, over the past five years (2021-2025), there have been 30 accidents on highways in South Korea attributed to the use of Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), resulting in 20 fatalities and 20 injuries. The yearly death toll from these accidents has varied, with 1 death in 2021, 4 in 2022, 2 in 2023, 11 in 2024, and 2 in 2025. The report highlights the growing concern regarding the reliance on this driver assistance technology, which is meant to maintain a constant speed and adjust the distance to the vehicle ahead automatically.
