Driver identified for 'speeding' - Posted videos on social media
A driver participating in illegal street racing was identified after posting videos of his reckless driving on social media, leading to a police investigation.
Greek police have launched an investigation into reckless driving behaviors that were being showcased on social media platforms. As a part of this effort, officers from the Special Information Analysis and Social Networks Team of Attica Traffic Police discovered videos on a popular social media platform showing a specific driver engaging in dangerous acts. This included extreme speeding and driving against the flow of traffic, which posed significant risks to other road users on various thoroughfares in Attica.
The footage revealed a 30-year-old man participating in improvised street races while violating traffic laws, such as crossing double lines meant to separate lanes. Upon reviewing the publicized material, police were able to quickly identify the individual behind the wheel, initiating legal action against him for inciting criminal behavior and for habitual dangerous driving.
The vehicle used in these illegal activities was located and confiscated in the Oropos area, as the police continue to enforce regulations and ensure safety on the roads. This case highlights the ongoing concern of reckless driving and the role of social media in both promoting and exposing such hazardous behaviors. The investigation into this matter has been forwarded to the appropriate authorities for further action.
