The cheapest gasoline prices during the Lunar New Year holidays were found at the Icheon rest area on the Gyeongbu Expressway, while the lowest diesel prices were at the Mungyeong rest area on the Jungbu Inland Expressway.
During the Lunar New Year holidays, the cheapest gasoline price in South Korea was recorded at the Icheon rest area along the Gyeongbu Expressway, situated towards Seoul from Cheonan, with a price of 1,598 KRW per liter. This price makes Icheon the only rest area with gasoline priced below 1,600 KRW per liter. Following Icheon, the cheapest gas prices were found at other rest areas such as Manghyang and Anseong, both on the Gyeongbu Expressway, where prices were slightly higher.
For diesel prices, the Mungyeong rest area on the Jungbu Inland Expressway emerged as the most affordable, offering diesel at 1,519 KRW per liter on the way toward Yangpyeong. Other competitive prices for diesel were found at rest areas such as Masan in the same direction, alongside several rest areas along different expressways, indicating a regional trend in fuel pricing during this busy travel period.
Overall, the average gasoline price across all types of gas stations in the country was reported at 1,688 KRW, while the average diesel price was 1,587 KRW. These statistics are particularly significant during the holiday season when many South Koreans travel, and the pricing of fuel can heavily influence travel plans and expenses.
