Short tracker Krūzbergs makes it to the A final in the Olympic Games for the second time in a row (start 23:42 local time)

Latvian short tracker Krūzbergs advances to the A final of the Olympic Games for the second consecutive time after a strong performance in the semifinals.

Latvian athlete Krūzbergs participated in the second quarterfinal heat, initially starting calmly while keeping pace at the back of a six-person group. As the race progressed, he increased his speed, successfully improving his position and ultimately winning the qualification heat with a time of 2 minutes and 18.237 seconds. This victory allowed him to advance to the third semifinal, where he needed at least a second-place finish to qualify for the gold medal race.

In a tightly contested semifinal, Krūzbergs initially secured second place with four laps to go. However, a collision with Canadian short tracker Félix Ressoul occurred just a couple of laps before the finish, causing both athletes to slide off into the soft edges of the rink. Following a review of the incident by the officials, it was determined that Ressoul would face a penalty, allowing Krūzbergs to be promoted to the A final, which marks his second consecutive appearance in the final heats at the Olympic Games.

The upcoming A final will feature eight competitors, with a scheduled start time of approximately 23:42 local time in Latvia. This event holds significant importance for Krūzbergs, who aims to capitalize on his previous performances and compete for a medal on this prestigious stage.
