Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, and Al Rayyan reach the quarter-finals of the Emir Cup

Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, and Al Rayyan have all qualified for the quarter-finals of the Emir Cup in Qatar.

In an exciting round of 16 matches in the Emir Cup, Al Sadd, Al Gharafa, and Al Rayyan secured their places in the quarter-finals. Al Sadd triumphed over Al Markhiya with a score of 2-1, thanks to two late goals from Rafa Mojeika, before Al Markhiya managed a consolation goal in the final seconds of the match. Al Sadd will face Al Shamal in the next round, as they also advanced by defeating Qatar SC.

Meanwhile, Al Gharafa defeated Al Kharitiyat 2-0, with Dami Traore scoring the first goal in the 23rd minute and Josilo adding another shortly after. Despite being reduced to 10 men following Traore's red card in the 65th minute, Al Gharafa held on to secure their spot in the quarter-finals. This resilience is commendable as they prepared to face Al Wakrah in the subsequent round.

Al Rayyan completed the trio of clubs advancing by winning against Al Khor 2-0, with goals from Alexander Mitrovic and Roger Guedes. Similar to Al Gharafa, Al Khor also faced a red card, playing the second half a man down after an expulsion. The completion of this round indicates strong performances from the familiar clubs in Qatar's football scene, setting the stage for an exciting quarter-final round ahead.
