The consequences for cars are ruthless: it is important to do this now

Specialists emphasize the importance of ensuring the cleanliness of vehicles now to protect their bodies and prolong their lifespan.

In a recent statement, experts highlighted the pressing need for vehicle cleaning, particularly in winter months, to prevent corrosion and damage. Vladimir Tonkich, head of the Vehicle Technical Expertise Division at TUV NORD Lithuania, noted that during winter, cars endure significant environmental stress, with the undercarriage and suspension being areas of particular concern. These parts are often directly affected by salt solutions, which deteriorate their anti-corrosion protection, increasing the risk of moisture accumulation and rapid corrosion.

Tonkich pointed out that specific zones on vehicles, such as wheel arches and body seams, are particularly vulnerable due to their construction, which makes them hard to access for regular maintenance. This accumulation of moisture can lead to accelerated corrosion processes, which can significantly impair the vehicle's overall integrity over time. Furthermore, the chemical factors associated with winter driving conditions exacerbate these issues, as road salt acts as an electrolyte that accelerates rust formation on metal surfaces.

In light of these risks, it is crucial for vehicle owners to take proactive measures to clean and protect their cars, especially during and after the winter months. Keeping cars clean is not only a matter of aesthetics but serves a functional purpose in extending the vehicle's lifespan and maintaining its structural integrity. Therefore, experts recommend adopting regular maintenance routines that prioritize these vulnerable areas to combat the effects of corrosion effectively.
