Germany and Norway purchase spare parts for Ukraine's Patriot air defense
Germany and Norway are collaborating to purchase spare parts for the Patriot air defense system donated to Ukraine, with Norway contributing one billion kroner.
Germany and Norway have joined forces to procure spare parts for the Patriot air defense system, which is being donated to Ukraine amid ongoing conflict. Norway is set to contribute one billion kroner to this initiative. Previously, both countries collectively donated two Patriot systems, with Norway's contribution amounting to 7 billion kroner. This collaboration underscores the commitment of both nations to support Ukraine during its defense against Russian attacks.
In a press statement released by the Prime Minister's office, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr StΓΈre emphasized the significance of this agreement, stating that it is crucial for Ukraine's continued defense against Russian aggression. By purchasing spare parts together with Germany, he noted that the effectiveness and operability of these defense systems would be enhanced, allowing them to remain functional for a greater portion of the time. This partnership reflects the ongoing reciprocal support between Norway and Germany in bolstering Ukraine's air defenses.
Norway and Germany have been engaging in extensive collaboration regarding air defense support to Ukraine. In August 2025, Norway had already contributed 7 billion kroner to air defense initiatives in partnership with Germany, sharing the costs for two Patriot systems and associated missiles. Additionally, Norway contributed to the acquisition of air defense radars from the German manufacturer Hensoldt, indicating a sustained commitment to strengthening Ukraineβs defense capabilities against external threats.
