Alytus police rescued a frozen fawn lying on the road
Police in Alytus County rescued a freezing fawn found on the road, providing immediate care and arranging for its safekeeping.
On a Saturday morning, the Alytus County police received reports of a freezing fawn lying on a busy road near the town of Daugai. Responding quickly, officers Ugnė and Eimantas attended to the animal, using a warming blanket and increasing the heater in their patrol car to help it regain warmth. They also contacted environmental protection officials and transferred the fawn to a caregiver who promised to take care of it until it was strong enough to be returned to the wild.
The police representative, Kristina Janulevičienė, informed that the fawn was handed over to a hunter who agreed to nurture it until it recovers. According to reports from the officers, while waiting for the caregiver to arrive, the fawn became more lively as it warmed up inside the patrol car. This incident highlights the importance of quick and compassionate responses from law enforcement in ensuring the welfare of animals in distress.
This act of kindness not only showcases the dedication of the Alytus police to their community but also raises awareness about wildlife protection and the importance of reporting animals in peril. The story is a reminder of how local authorities can play a significant role in the care and rescue of wildlife, emphasizing the collaborative efforts of the police and environmental agencies in such scenarios.
