Valentine's Day Mood Conjured by Ice Heart Created by Sculptor Kārli Īle in Kuldīga
A large ice block weighing approximately one and a half tons was transformed into a heart sculpture in Kuldīga, attracting local residents and guests to witness the process.
In Kuldīga, Latvia, artist Kārlis Īle has brought the Valentine's Day spirit to life with a remarkable ice sculpture in the shape of a heart, made from a large block of ice weighing around one and a half tons that traveled from Riga. As the sculpting process takes place, onlookers are treated to a spectacle that not only beautifies the city but also engages the community in a unique artistic experience. The artist humorously mentioned that when the heart sculpture is completed, it will be easier to bear as there will be half a ton less ice to manage.
This is the second time that Kārlis Īle has delighted the residents and visitors of Kuldīga with his ice artwork, having previously brought ready-made ice sculptures. The event allows both locals and tourists to witness the creation of the sculpture live, with the process expected to take around two hours. Jana Bergmane, the head of the Kuldīga Tourism Development Center, emphasized the value of this experience, encouraging attendance during the live sculpting periods to truly appreciate the craftsmanship involved.
Among the spectators were students from the Kuldīga Art School, including Amēlija Reķe, who expressed admiration for the sculpting process, noting her own lack of knowledge about how to create such an artwork. This event not only fosters a sense of community but also serves as an educational opportunity for young residents to learn about and appreciate the art of sculpture-making in a festive atmosphere leading up to Valentine's Day.
