Finns voted for the best love song of all time – 'I sang it to propose to my wife'

A survey conducted by Me Naisten gathered votes from Finns to determine the best love song, revealing personal connections and memories associated with the music.

In a unique survey organized by Me Naisten, Finnish readers were invited to vote for what they consider the best love song of all time, with an impressive turnout of 2,598 responses. The selection included 70 classic love songs from both domestic and international artists, with participants also given the option to suggest songs that were not on the list. This initiative sparked nostalgia among voters as many shared reminiscences of their loved ones and romantic moments associated with the songs.

Interestingly, a significant portion of the voters, about 30%, chose songs that were not included in the initial list set by the presiding panel. This response reflects a wide variety of personal tastes, as no single song emerged among the top ten favorites based on these write-in votes. However, six love songs gained the most mentions, indicating strong popular opinions among the participants.

This voting exercise not only showcases the diverse preferences of the Finnish public when it comes to love songs but also highlights the cultural significance of music in people's lives, intertwining their cherished memories and emotional connections to the melodies. As Finland continues to celebrate its musical heritage, such surveys provide insight into the collective sentiments surrounding love and relationships.
