After the samba, the choro, relief, and exhaustion: what remains in the dispersal of Anhembi

Participants in the São Paulo samba parade experienced a mix of emotions as they dispersed after their performances, marked by joy, exhaustion, and camaraderie.

After parading at the Sambódromo do Anhembi in São Paulo, the dispersal of the samba schools was filled with a wide range of emotions from the participants. The atmosphere was heavy with choro (a Brazilian music genre), applause, and cheers of joy, as many members celebrated their performances while others were visibly exhausted, lying on the ground due to physical fatigue. The rapid assistance offered among members to remove heavy costumes quickly highlighted the community spirit inherent in these festive events.

The G1 SP team followed two samba schools that performed on the first day of the Group Special, providing a close look at the unique emotional landscape during dispersal. The first school, Mocidade Unida da Mooca, made its debut in the Group Special, and excitement was palpable among the members at the start of the day. Conversations among participants indicated that they anticipated an emotional release, stating, "when it’s all over, it will be pure emotion"—an expectation that was met as they concluded their performance with tears and joy.

As the front commission of the samba school entered the dispersal area, the emotions surged, with tears filling many eyes, and continuous applause resonated as each float passed. Participants chanted "we did it, we did it" amid the overwhelming sense of accomplishment. The combination of exhilaration from performing in the prestigious Group Special and the relief of finishing their participation forged a memorable moment, encapsulating the spirit of samba and community.
