A prisoner faked a convulsion, deceived the police, and escaped from a hospital in Neuquén

A prisoner in Neuquén, Argentina, faked a convulsion to gain medical attention and successfully escaped custody.

In Neuquén, Argentina, Lucas Exequiel Muñoz, a 25-year-old inmate with a criminal history, managed to deceive the local police by simulating an epileptic crisis. This ruse led to his transfer from the local jail to the Bouquet Roldán Hospital for emergency treatment, supposedly for an immediate health concern. Once at the hospital, the police removed his handcuffs, a critical lapse that allowed him the opportunity to execute his escape plan.

While at the hospital, witnesses reported that Muñoz took advantage of the moment and broke a metal blind, jumped through a window, and climbed onto the roof of the building, successfully eluding capture. The authorities were alerted to his escape, leading to an immediate search operation in the surrounding area. However, as of now, there have been no results in locating him, and his whereabouts remain unknown.

The incident raises serious concerns about security protocols for transporting inmates for medical treatment and the potential risks associated with allowing inmates to be unshackled in medical settings. Muñoz's previous criminal record, which includes multiple robberies and possession of firearms, heightens the urgency for law enforcement to recapture him before he can pose a further threat to public safety.
