Did you know? If this car sticker is worn, you will get rejected at the inspection

A crucial manufacturer sticker must be intact for vehicles to pass inspection in Finland, as emphasized by the inspection company Q-katsastus due to recent discussions on social media.

In Finland, it has come to attention that a vital manufacturer sticker must be intact for vehicles to pass their inspection. Q-katsastus, an inspection company operating in Lahti and Kuopio, highlighted this issue in a TikTok video, where viewers expressed surprise regarding the significance of the sticker. This manufacturer plate has become mandatory in vehicles since 1993, and any wear or damage to it could result in the vehicle failing the inspection process.

Jari Pitkäniemi, a quality manager working for Suomen Katsastusasemat Oy associated with Q-katsastus, revealed that clients are often taken aback when their vehicles do not successfully pass inspection due to issues with the sticker. There are various circumstances under which the sticker can be damaged, such as if a seatbelt buckle gets stuck during the closing of the door. This practical insight reflects the necessity for both vehicle owners and inspection personnel to ensure that all vehicle identifiers remain readable and intact.

Antti Ojala, an inspector from Traficom, noted that if the information on the sticker is not clearly legible, the vehicle will fail the inspection. According to statistics provided by Traficom, there were 2,351 rejections in 2024 at inspection stations due to issues with the manufacturer plate. This statistic underlines the importance of maintaining vehicle compliance and highlights an area where many vehicle owners might need to pay more attention to prevent inspection failures.
