On February 14, 2026, Bifröst University celebrated a historic graduation ceremony at Hjálmaklettur in Borgarnes, where 213 students received their degrees, the highest number in the institution's history. This graduating class comprised 46 undergraduate students and 167 master's degree recipients, reflecting the university's growing educational impact and reach. The acting rector, Ólína Kjerúlf Þorvarðardóttir, addressed the graduates and attendees, expressing gratitude to former rector Margrét Jónsdóttir Njarðvík for her contributions to the institution's successes.
The ceremony highlighted the challenging weeks leading up to graduation for both the school and students, emphasizing the efforts made to overcome obstacles during their academic journey. Key figures such as Haukur Logi Karlsson, a professor and head of the law faculty, along with Ólína Kjerúlf Þorvarðardóttir and Guðrún Johnsen, head of the business department, participated in the event. Graduates came from various departments, with the majority being from the business school, showing a significant interest in business education within the region and the university’s emphasis on practical knowledge.
With 155 of the graduates being women, the event underscored the trend towards increasing female participation in higher education, particularly in business and law, areas traditionally dominated by men. This graduation not only marks a milestone for Bifröst University but also reflects broader societal changes in Iceland regarding education, gender equality, and the empowerment of women in academia.
