A grave accident occurred in the early hours of Saturday (14) on the Rodoanel Mário Covas, located in Itapecerica da Serra, part of Greater São Paulo, resulting in the deaths of three individuals. The accident involved a Fiat Uno that lost control and collided with barriers on the highway before being struck by a truck traveling behind it. The casualty count indicates the severity of the incident that has shocked the local community.

At approximately 5:30 AM, the Fiat Uno was traveling in the first lane of the highway when the driver lost control and crashed into the concrete barrier at the central median. Following that, it skidded across all three lanes and collided with the metal barrier on the roadside, ultimately rolling over. Despite the attempt by the truck driver to stop, the truck struck the Fiat Uno and dragged it for approximately 50 meters, highlighting the dangers of road safety on busy highways.

In response to the incident, the concessionaire SPMar reported that the area is partially blocked at km 42 in the direction of Perus, resulting in traffic congestion of around 4 kilometers. While the three fatalities were reported to be occupants of the Fiat Uno, one additional passenger suffered serious injuries and was transported to the Hospital Geral de Itapecerica. Authorities are awaiting the arrival of forensic teams to investigate the scene further. The tragedy underscores the need for enhanced road safety measures to prevent such accidents in the future.
