Church in Viborg invites to drop-in wedding on Valentine's Day
On Valentine's Day, Vestervang Church in Viborg, Denmark, is hosting its second drop-in wedding event allowing couples to get married without prior appointments.
Valentine's Day is celebrated as one of the most romantic days of the year, and this year, it also serves as a wedding day for couples in Viborg contemplating marriage. Vestervang Church, for the second time, is hosting a drop-in wedding event where couples can walk off the street and get married without prior arrangements. The decision to hold this special event on Valentine's Day is intentional, as it aligns with the essence of love that the day represents.
The church had organized a similar drop-in wedding last year, which saw eight couples tying the knot. Sognepræst Hildur Kaaber Ahrenkilde explains that celebrating love on a day dedicated to it makes perfect sense. The atmosphere is meant to be welcoming and inclusive, allowing couples the opportunity to formalize their commitments spontaneously as part of the church's outreach.
The event will take place from 3:30 PM to 6:00 PM, but it is important to note that at least one of the partners must be a member of the Danish National Church to participate. This initiative not only reflects a modern approach to weddings but also emphasizes the church's role in fostering a sense of community among its members, particularly on a day that symbolizes love and togetherness.
