Have filed a protest after Klæbo's gold

The Finnish ski federation has filed a protest regarding the results of a sprint competition in which Norwegian skier Johannes Høsflot Klæbo won gold, claiming illegal advantages were obtained.

The Finnish ski federation and Olympic committee have formally protested the results of a recent sprint competition in which Norwegian ski star Johannes Høsflot Klæbo secured a gold medal. They argue that the competition's results should be corrected to reflect a scenario where no competitor gained an advantage through illegal means. Concerns arose when it was reported that Norway allegedly utilized a device to heat the wax application on their skis, which was not listed among the permitted tools.

Controversy emerged not only over the device used by the Norwegian team but also due to the observation of a forbidden wax product being present in the American team’s equipment during the same sprint event. Despite these protests and findings, FIS (the international ski and snowboard federation) director Michal Lamplot stated that these incidents would not lead to any consequences for the teams involved, thus complicating the integrity of the competition.

The competition concluded with Klæbo taking the gold, followed by American skier Ben Ogden and Norwegian Oskar Opstad Vike. Finnish skier Lauri Vuorinen finished fourth, and the Finnish officials are now advocating for his elevation to gold due to the allegations against the Norwegian competitors. This situation raises questions about the enforcement of fair play in competitive skiing amid allegations of rule violations.
