Major power failure in Pomerania. Residents of several districts are without electricity
A significant power outage affected about 10,000 households in Pomerania due to severe weather conditions, leaving many without electricity into the next day.
On Friday afternoon, a major power failure hit Pomerania, initially affecting around 10,000 households. The outage was attributed to heavy, wet snow, which caused trees and branches to break and damage electrical lines. By 7 PM on Friday, nearly 8,100 customers were reported to be without power, highlighting the extent of the disruption caused by the inclement weather.
Energa Operator, the company responsible for electricity distribution in the region, communicated its efforts to restore power, informing customers about the difficulties arising from particularly adverse weather conditions. The company assured that their teams were working tirelessly to return electricity to homes as quickly as possible. Despite their assurances, the expected timeline for the restoration of service was described as tentative, indicating that consumers should prepare for additional delays.
By Saturday morning at 9 AM, approximately 2,300 customers were still without electricity, signaling ongoing challenges for the operator. The situation illustrates the vulnerabilities of power infrastructure in adverse weather and poses questions about preparedness and response strategies for future similar events in Pomerania and beyond.
