Fafá de Belém performs at bloco Raparigas de Chico this Saturday (14) in João Pessoa
Fafá de Belém will be the main attraction at the 15th edition of the bloco Raparigas de Chico during the Carnival celebrations in João Pessoa.
The bloco As Raparigas de Chico will celebrate its 15th edition this Saturday, February 14, in the Historic Center of João Pessoa, Brazil, starting from 4 PM at Praça Dom Adauto. The main draw for this year's festivities is the renowned Brazilian singer Fafá de Belém, known for her significant contributions to Música Popular Brasileira (MPB). In addition to Fafá, the event will feature performances from the Orquestra Sanhauá, Coral Voz Ativa, Polyana Resende, and Val Donato, showcasing a rich variety of music.
The bloco was established in 2011 by a group of five fans of the famous Brazilian artist Chico Buarque, aiming to celebrate his artistry through a unique Carnival experience. Over the years, the bloco has become an important cultural event in João Pessoa, remaining in one fixed location, inviting participants to enjoy the festivities without traditional parading. This year's celebration reflects the ongoing dedication of the bloco to preserving the spirit of Carnival while honoring the legacy of Chico Buarque.
As the event marks its 15th anniversary, As Raparigas de Chico highlights the significance of community and cultural pride during Carnival. It serves not only as entertainment but also as a unifying moment for fans of MPB and Brazilian music, illustrating the vibrant cultural landscape of João Pessoa and the broader impact of Carnival celebrations across Brazil.
